Case Four Holiday Flooding Prevented

Date Record Opened - Tuesday 04 March 2008

Date Outcome Reported - Saturday 05 April. 2008

The Scottish Veterans Garden City Association (Houses For Heroes)

Mr David. R. Whyte – Plumber.
Mobile – 07976 824687

On the date stated, a Dependant of a Veteran reported to our Mr Robbie McCabe that she urgently required a plumber. It was also explained that as it was a holiday, no plumber in yellow pages in proximity to her home was willing to work on this holiday day.

Our Dependant lives in a home beset with a serious series of ill-repairs. Unbeknown to our Dependant, her upstairs bathroom cupboarded sink had been leaking for a considerable period of time.

Our Dependant had followed the procedure and called the Afterlease Careline. This is the responsibility of the District honorary Secretary Mr Richard Burnett of Blackadders Property Management Company in Dundee. The response was an answer machine of zero significance and assistance.

Our Mr Robbie McCabe arranged for the plumber as mentioned above to work on this holiday day and footed the bill, as is the normal necessity as we are not a charity.

It is our considered opinion that only the Grace of God has prevented a death in this household due to the state of ill-repair that Mr Richard Burnett refuses to address. On the cessation of the holiday period, Veterans In Need will indeed have a frank discussion with Mr Richard Burnett of Blackadders Property Management Company and insist he acts with a sense of urgency as well as reimbursing our Mr Robbie McCabe when presented with the appropriate bill at the first option point.

N.B. The Scottish Veterans Garden City Association are aware of the fact that a 24 hour emergency call out service is not available and have agreed to implement such a programme in the very near future.
